At The Hockey Club, we deliver year-round, professional hockey and goalie development for athletes of all ages—from Novice to Pro. Our programs are built to elevate every player’s performance through expert instruction in puck handling, small-area skills, agility, reaction training, and goalie-specific movement patterns that are often overlooked in team practices.
For goaltenders, we focus heavily on the essential foundations: skating mechanics, crease movement, edge control, post integration techniques, advanced slides, puck handling, and shooting. By practicing repetitions with and without pucks, our training builds true muscle memory—unlocking greater strength, confidence, and consistency in every goalie’s game.
Every drill is demonstrated clearly, every skill is taught by example, and every session is engineered to help athletes reach their full potential. Our mission is simple: to become the industry leader in delivering high-quality, affordable, year-round hockey and goalie development to male and female athletes of all levels.

Meet Our Coaching Team
Tom Lawson – Head Coach
With a distinguished international goaltending career, Tom Lawson brings elite-level expertise and a proven track record of professional success. Born in Whitby, Ontario, Tom rose from junior hockey with the Markham Waxers to a scholarship at Bowling Green State University. His pro career includes standout seasons across the UHL, AHL, Finland’s SM-liiga, Russia’s Superleague (RSL), and the KHL.
Highlights include:
• UHL Champion, Best Goaltender, Playoff MVP, First All-Star Team
• Signed by the Colorado Avalanche
• First Canadian starting goalie for CSKA Moscow (Red Army)
• Led the RSL in wins, shutouts, and games played
• Competed in the KHL and Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan
Tom now brings his world-class knowledge and passion for development to the next generation.

David Goverde – Goalie Coach
A seasoned professional with deep roots in the game, David Goverde’s career spans every major level of hockey. Born in Toronto, he grew up in the GTHL before playing in the OHL with Windsor and Sudbury.
Key accomplishments:
• Drafted by the Los Angeles Kings (5th round, #91 overall)
• 14-year pro career across the NHL, AHL, IHL, ECHL, WCHL, ACHL, and WHA2
• Two-time pro playoff MVP and winner of the Taylor Cup (2000) and President’s Cup (2003)
• Former head instructor at Jon Elkin Goalie School
• Extensive coaching experience in both the U.S. and Canada
David brings unmatched experience, technical precision, and a proven teaching philosophy.

Olivier Lefrienère – Goalie Coach
Fresh from his OHL career, Olivier injects modern technique, energy, and player-first perspective into our program.
Career highlights:
• Drafted in the 3rd round by the Ottawa 67’s (2014)
• Goaltender for the Ottawa 67’s and Owen Sound Attack
• OHL Gold Cup Champion (2013–14)
• OJHL First Team All-Prospect (2015–16)
