The Goalie Performance Center is a year-round, high-performance goaltending development program led by one of the most experienced and respected goalie coaches in the game—Dave Stathos. Built on decades of professional playing, coaching, and teaching experience, GPC delivers modern, complete goalie development for athletes competing in today’s increasingly demanding hockey landscape.
Founder & Director – Dave Stathos
Dave Stathos brings over 25 years of elite goaltending experience across Canada, the United States, and Europe. As a player, Dave competed professionally in Finland and Sweden’s elite leagues and earned an invite to try out for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2002—an achievement that reflects his high-level ability and international experience.
Dave also played NCAA hockey at Princeton University, where he graduated with a focus on Sport Psychology and the mental aspects of goaltending—a foundation that now defines his coaching philosophy and gives his athletes a competitive edge.
The Goalie Performance Center
Dave is the owner and head instructor of the Goalie Performance Center, a year-round goalie training school in Ottawa dedicated exclusively to goaltender development. GPC operates out of two premier hockey facilities:
• Bell Sensplex
• Richcraft Sensplex
These locations allow GPC to deliver consistent, structured development programs in a professional training environment designed for serious goaltenders.
Education-Driven Coaching & Certification
Beyond the rink, Dave is an accomplished educator, teaching Intermediate French, Science, and Physical Education with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. This classroom experience directly enhances his coaching style—clear communication, structured learning, and athlete-centered instruction.
Dave is also a Master Level 3 Trained Goaltending Instructor with Hockey Canada and delivers goaltending education courses for coaches through Hockey Eastern Ontario. His role in coach education further reinforces his impact on goaltending development beyond individual athletes.
