Goalie Central is a dedicated goaltending development program founded on passion, experience, and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in the crease. Built by goalies, for goalies, Goalie Central focuses on developing technically sound, mentally strong, and confident athletes at every stage of their hockey journey.
At the heart of Goalie Central is Mathieu Chénier, a former Junior A goaltender whose love for the position and commitment to excellence has shaped a trusted and fast-growing coaching brand.
Founder Story
Mathieu Chénier’s hockey journey began in the crease, where his passion for the position pushed him to compete at the Junior A level. He spent two seasons with the Hawkesbury Hawks (CCHL) and one season with the Navan Grads, gaining valuable experience both on and off the ice. These years not only refined his technical ability but also instilled core values of teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and resilience.
While still playing, Chénier began coaching goalies in 2017, driven by a desire to share knowledge and help others grow. In early 2020, he made the full transition from player to coach, committing himself entirely to goaltender development.
With over seven years of coaching experience, Chénier has built a reputation for his hands-on approach, attention to detail, and genuine care for each athlete’s progress. In February 2022, he officially launched Goalie Central, turning his passion into a purpose-driven coaching business that continues to grow and impact goalies of all ages and skill levels.
