At Burlington Skating Centre, our coaching staff represents the highest standards in Canadian figure skating instruction. Every coach is fully certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and registered with Skate Canada as a Professional Coach. With decades of combined experience across recreational, competitive, and elite levels, our team is committed to developing confident, skilled skaters of all ages.
Clare Kelly — Director of Skating & Development
A highly accomplished coach since 1996, Clare leads athlete development from Canskate through to competitive pathways. She is an NCCP Level 3 National Certified Coach and a former Junior/Senior National Team Member who competed both nationally and internationally. Clare holds Gold Test levels in Figures, Freeskate, Dance, Artistic, and Skills, bringing unmatched technical expertise to the Centre.
Kathy Zahakos — Competitive Director
Kathy brings nearly 30 years of coaching experience, specializing in both youth competitive athletes and adult skaters. An NCCP Level 3 National Certified Coach and Section-Level Technical Specialist, she has coached skaters who have competed at national and international levels. Kathy’s background includes Junior Competitive Singles and Gold Test levels in Freeskate and Skills.
Julie Glenn — Director of Learn to Skate
Coaching since 1997, Julie oversees the club’s Learn to Skate programs. She is an NCCP Level 2 Provincial Certified Coach with Gold Test levels in Dance, Freeskate, Skills, and Artistic. Julie’s impressive skating career includes Senior Competitive Singles, Pairs, a 1993 Senior Fours Canadian Bronze Medal, and performing as a Principal Pair Skater with Disney on Ice.
Hannah White — Director of Pre-School Skating
Hannah leads the club’s pre-school skating initiatives and coaches skaters across all levels. Regional and Canskate certified, she brings competitive experience up to the Pre-Novice level and holds Gold Tests in Freeskate, Skills, and Artistic. Her modern approach and strong fundamentals make her a perfect fit for the Centre’s youngest athletes.
